SRP Event: An Introduction to Non-Ionising Radiation (NIR) Safety Management

Aurora’s Angela Yeadon delivered a webinar on managing NIR safety in the workplace, hosted by the Society for Radiological Protection.

The webinar provided an overview of managing Non-Ionising Radiation (NIR) safety, addressed some of the challenges involved and discussed a number of the actions that organisations should be taking in order to ensure they are compliant with the relevant legislation. In particular, the Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010 (AOR10) and the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016 (CEMFWR16).

About Angela

Angela Yeadon is a highly experienced radiation protection specialist and has worked in this fields for 14 years. She is a certificated Laser Protection Adviser and a Non-Ionising Radiation Safety Specialist and provides advice and training across many sectors on laser, broadband optical and EMF safety. This includes carrying out safety assessments of electromagnetic fields and optical radiation using specialist measurement equipment. She is a member of the SRP’s EMF and Optical Radiation (EMFOR) Committee, which acts as a focal point for NIR Safety Related issues within the SRP community.

Before joining Aurora in 2016, Angela worked for Public Health England, where she was part of the team that wrote the ‘Non-binding guide to good practice for implementing Directive 2013/35/EU Electromagnetic Fields’.
