This training course is designed for individuals who will be appointed as Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPSs), or as a refresher for those already appointed in this role. Successful completion of the RPS training course has been designed to give the delegate a full understanding of the role and duties of the RPS.

This training course is designed for individuals who will be appointed as Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPSs), or as a refresher for those already appointed in this role. Successful completion of the RPS training course has been designed to give the delegate a full understanding of the role and duties of the RPS.

What topics are covered?

  • nature and properties of ionising radiation and with the units used in radiological protection
  • biological effects of ionising radiation and appreciation of the associated risks
  • importance of dose limits
  • differences between internal and external radiation hazards
  • different types of radiation monitoring equipment including when and when not to use them
  • requirements of the relevant radiation protection legislation
  • process of radiation risk assessments and how to implement contingency plans for dealing with a radiation accident
  • full role and duties of the RPS

What’s included?

Attendance on the course includes copies of all training materials, worked examples, an additional training notes booklet and a certificate on completion of the end of course assessment. Lunch is provided in addition to refreshments throughout the day.

Booking

The standard RPS course fee is £400 excluding VAT per delegate. A purchase order number must be provided to Aurora at least 2 weeks before the course date. This confirms the delegate’s attendance on the course. If you cancel your booking more than 1 week before the course date, we will refund the course fee in full. If you cancel your booking with less than 1 weeks’ notice, your fee is not refundable. You may change a booking (i.e. change the delegate) at any time with no charge.
