Claire – one year on!

It’s been a year since I joined Aurora, and it has flown by.

24 June 2026

When I joined Aurora, I was seeking opportunities to focus on radiation safety, and to broaden my horizons with different industries. Well, Aurora has certainly delivered!

I’ve had so many opportunities over the last year to look at different industries and different practices with radiation. Helping clients to navigate radiation safety and compliance in a way that works for them has been very rewarding. I’ve really enjoyed travelling and meeting new people. New settings for radiation protection have challenged my preconceptions and given me opportunities to learn in ways that other sectors could not achieve. It’s helping me become a better radiation protection professional.

What I really appreciate about working for Aurora is that everyone in the team is so knowledgeable and happy to share their knowledge. The non-nuclear sector is vast and varied; even though I can work as independently and flexibly as I like, there’s always someone who has my back and happy to help me figure out the unknown or unusual. Collaborating with the team and clients is an enjoyable way to solve problems and help keep people safe.

Everyone at Aurora has been so welcoming. It’s been a privilege to work alongside such brilliant people over the last year, here’s to the next one! Looking forward I’m working to submit my application to become a Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) and continue to support the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP) as a Council Member.
