Charlie – 3 years on!

26 May 2026

How time flies, it almost feels like yesterday when Charlie Scholtka joined Aurora.  Here is what he has to say about his time at Aurora:

I had completed a Masters in Nuclear Engineering and part of my course included a module on radiation protection. This introduction to radiation protection had made me curious as to what possible careers and roles could be available within this field.

I knew I wanted to work somewhere with variety and which had opportunities for me to not only develop but also shape the direction of my development as to what interested me.

I came across Aurora whilst searching for roles in radiation protection and have not looked back since. The variety and development opportunities available to me, from surveys and remediation of laboratories and contaminated land, to working with clients with radioactive substances, x-ray equipment and those with radon gas issues, providing radiation safety training and gaining my Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) qualification all provide the variety I enjoy.

Looking forward, I’m gaining experience to submit my portfolio to become a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), and then after that it’s on to the Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) portfolio!

One of the best things though is the people I work with.
