Aurora Team Attends the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Public Access Day

5 August 2025

On Friday, August 1st, the Aurora staff had the exciting opportunity to visit the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory for its annual Public Access Day, diving deep into the cutting edge of science and technology.

The day began at the Rosalind Franklin Institute, where the team engaged in hands-on learning around artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). They took part in a neural network exercise, gaining practical insights into how machines are trained to learn and make decisions.

Following the workshop, the team explored a vibrant exhibition. Highlights included getting up close with the Van de Graaff generator, observing particle trails in a cloud chamber, and using virtual reality to take an immersive tour inside CERN.

A big thank you to everyone at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the Rosalind Franklin Institute for an unforgettable experience!
