Manager’s Training

To provide ionising and non-ionising radiation training for a health and safety advisers.

Radiation Safety Training

The Challenges

Health and Safety professionals need to be increasingly aware of the dangers of working with ionising and non-ionising radiation, and what parts of the legislation applies to them.

Aurora provide this training, which can be delivered on site, or at our own premises. In this instance, classes have started taking place in Newcastle Upon Tyne, which is ideal for companies in the North East.

The training can be tailor made according to the role of the attendees. This course focused on EMF safety, as well as UV and Laser safety.

The Tasks

  • Ensure attendees understand the underlying physics of ionising and non-ionising radiation
  • Attendees will know how to conduct risk assessments, control measures and contingency plans with a radiation safety perspective.
  • Inform attendees of the pertinent legislation as it applies to radiation safety.
  • Using real industry accident case histories to reinforce learning and reaffirm importance of radiation safety.

The Results

The training took place at the Jury’s Inn in Newcastle Upon Tyne where attendees were instructed and given opportunity to network with others in similar roles.

"The Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation Training by Aurora was an excellent course and I would recommend attending it. The course was well paced and was structured to include participants of all levels. There were plenty of opportunities to network, which is a bonus when you are new to this area.

Those presenting were able to clearly explain legislative requirements and I acquired a lot of new knowledge, particularly about lasers and electromagnetic fields.”
