Aurora was delighted to support the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair, held from 9–11 June 2026 at the NEC in Birmingham. Working alongside the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP), the team engaged thousands of students through interactive activities and demonstrations designed to raise awareness of radiation and radiological protection careers.

Orneste Buitkute, one of Aurora’s Radiation Protection Consultants, volunteered at the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP) stand, engaging students with Aurora’s popular CT Chocolate Game. This interactive activity challenged students to identify different types of chocolate based on their CT images. The game drew a crowd and sparked plenty of enthusiastic conversations about science, technology, and the role of ionising radiation in everyday life.

The stand supported the wider aims of the Big Bang Fair by promoting STEM careers, highlighting the importance of maths and science, and providing positive role models for future radiation protection professionals. Team members shared their career experiences and discussed the many pathways into the profession, including apprenticeships and graduate routes.

The event was a great success, generating strong engagement and helping to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.
